General Services:
The Women’s Diagnostic Center of Cleveland has been providing mammography in medical office buildings since 1986. We were pleased to add the Women's Wellness Wagon mobile mammography unit to our services in July 2000. Now, we can bring our certified, all female mammographers to worksite and community locations. Women’s Diagnostic Center provides privacy screens and disposable front opening vests for our patients for use during their mammograms, making this life-saving procedure private, confidential and convenient for women while controlling health care costs.
The American Cancer Society guidelines recommend women have a mammogram every year after age 40. Breast cancers found by mammographic screening of women in their forties were smaller and at an earlier stage than cancers found in women not having mammography. When breast cancer is detected in the localized stage without spread to the lymph nodes, the five-year survival rate is 97%. The Adolph Coors Company has calculated that an early detected breast cancer costs an average of $12,000 per occurrence. In contrast, late-stage breast cancer cases average about $143,000.
The Women’s Diagnostic Center of Cleveland is locally owned and operated. It is certified by the American College of Radiology and the Food and Drug Administration and is compliant with the Mammography Quality Standards Act. This ensures that the quality of the mammograms from mobile units is the same as those done at any certified facility. Results of the screen will be sent to each woman and her physician within 10 days of completion. Women’s Diagnostic Center accepts many Medicare and commercial insurance plans. Additionally, the fee is much less than the charge for the diagnostic (non routine) exam women may be receiving now.
Consider the 15-20 minute screen to be a valuable benefit for women. Being actively involved in women’s wellness will control healthcare costs. Our mammography unit is transported in a van and wheeled in, so we do not need to worry about generators or mechanical difficulties. We will need a private space with a 110-volt outlet with 20 amps of power, on a dedicated power line. We will process films at our fixed site each day after we leave each location. Women’s Diagnostic Center will provide a teaching video, a breast model to teach Breast Self Exams, and shower cards. Women’s Diagnostic Center will also offer a "Wellness Certificate" for discounted wellness services at Mario’s International Spa and a Harry & David discount coupon to all women following their mammogram. We would also be pleased to assist you in marketing this program to your clients including participation in health fairs.
Service Area:
As we are required to process films at the end of each screening day, we try to limit our service area to within 100 miles or 90-minute drive time from Cleveland. Special arrangement can be made to travel beyond the 100 miles/90-minute drive time.
Additional services:
Mobile ultrasound also available and can be scheduled upon request.
Fees:
Mammography is covered under most insurance plans. Women’s Diagnostic Center is contracted with most insurance plans (with the exception of Kaiser Permanente) to accept this fee. All insurance plans will be verified for coverage prior to scheduling. There may be a nominal travel/set-up fee assessed to the employer. In the case of self-insured employer groups, we will accept the current Ohio Mammography rate.
